Why is sustainability in aviation so important to you?
Travelling the world is one of the most fun and inspiring things there is. Connecting with different cultures is key to understanding people in other parts of the world, and that is something we should keep doing. The challenge for all of us is how to do it without such a heavy carbon footprint.

What excites you about the SkiesFifty mission?
The complexity of decarbonising aviation is huge. At KLM I saw how difficult it is when only one or two parties in the industry try to do it. We have to work together with stakeholders across the whole value chain to make real change. If we do that, I believe we can truly catalyse SAF development.

How do you balance life with work?
Sport helps me empty my head. I run, climb and mountain bike, and in winter I teach skiing one evening a week on an indoor rolling slope. In summer we keep a tent at a campsite near the sea, and we spend our weekends there whenever the weather allows.

What is on your Spotify playlist right now?
I'm too disorganised to keep a playlist! My taste is quite diverse: techno and hardstyle, but also classical music and a bit of rock.
